Live in the Moment

To experience life in the “present moment” is not a mysterious thing and it is not a big deal. It simply involves putting less attention on worries and regrets. Less attention on the future, the past, and things that bother you.
Living in the present moment means living life “now”, with your attention on the present, [...]

Pain and the Mind-Body Connection

I read a very interesting article yesterday in WebMD magazine (July/August issue). The title of the article is Painful Conversation.
What made this article so interesting to me is the fact that the medical profession is giving more credence to the power of the human mind in dealing with pain. While I have read other articles [...]

The Enchanted Kettle

Fifty years ago, on old country doctor drove to town, hitched his horse, quietly slipped into a drug store by the back door, and began “dickering” with the young drug clerk.
His mission was destined to yield great wealth to many people. It was destined to bring to the South the most far-flung benefit since the [...]

Choose Your Friends Wisely

Most people would acknowledge the fact that the people we spend time around have an affect on us. We are affected both positively and negatively. Children are affected by their parents, parents are affected by their children, spouses by each other, and siblings by each other. Our friends, neighbors, and people we [...]

Michael Losier - Making The Secret Work

I came across an interesting video today by Michael Losier. He is the author of “Law of Attraction: The Secret to Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t.”

Michael talks a lot about “vibes” and the last thing he says on this video “You don’t always get what you want, [...]

I’m Still Waiting - E-mail Etiquette

The slightly humorous photo and caption above represents an e-mail I recently received from a friend. Now, I appreciate a good joke and a good laugh as much as the next person. As a matter of fact, I have written about the benefits of having some humor in your life every day. And I certainly believe in regular communication with our friends. But sometimes there is just too much 'crap' in our in-box. I didn't mind receiving this e-mail, nor was I offended by it. But since I was already workiing on an article about e-mail etiquette, I thought I would include it.

Overcome Your Fear of Rejection

Yesterday, a very dear friend of mine told me she has strong fear of rejection. So much so that she could not bring herself to apply for a new position with her employer. A position for which she is more than qualified. Even though this new position pays quite a bit more, with better working conditions, she could still not bring herself to apply. It seems her fear of rejection is more of a motivator than the benfits of this positive carreer opportunity.

Live Like You Were Dyin’

With his song, "Live Like You were Dyin'", Tim McGraw sends a message that we should really heed.
Like Tim's song, many of us will experience a much-dreaded serious accident or terminal diagnosis, and one thing is certain to occur:

Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling

Does the idea of living an inspired life appeal to you? Do you want to have more inspiration in your life? Do you want to know your calling?

Have you ever asked yourself “What is my purpose on this earth?” or “Why am I here?”

I just returned from a wonderful ten-day vacation and some much needed R&R. During this time, I picked up a copy of "Inspiration - Your Ultimate Calling" by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Dr. Dyer is one of my favorite authors and speakers, and I have several of his books and audio recordings.

Become a Better Listener

Are you a good listener? Most of us need a lot of work in this area and I would have to say that men need it the most. I am certainly not accusing all men of being poor listeners. As I said, most of us need work in this area, but of all the women I have known in my lifetime, most of them will complain that their husband, boyfriend, or father is not a very good listener. Most of them say that any improvement in their listening skills would be greatly appreciated, and certainly would do wonders for their relationship.
