Inspiration and Motivation
An Inspirational Story
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were discussing their lives at a class reunion. They decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired, who was always an inspiration to them.
“Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.” “While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.”
“The cup that you are drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.” “What each of you really wanted was hot chocolate. You did not want the cup . . . but you consciously went for the best cups.” “And soon, you began to eye one another’s cups.”
“Now friends, please consider this . . .
“Life is the hot chocolate . . .your job, money and position in society are the cups.”
“They are just tools to hold and contain life.”
“The cup you have does not define, nor does it change, the quality of life you are living.”
“Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us.”
Always remember this . . . . . . . . . .
God brews the hot chocolate, He does not choose the cup.
The happiest people don’t have the best of everything.
They just make the best of everything that they have!!
Live simply . . .
Love generously . . .
Care deeply . . .
Speak kindly . . .
Leave the rest to God. ~ and remember ~
The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.
Enjoy your hot chocolate!!

Acres Of Diamonds by Russell Conwell. Russell Herman Conwell (February 15, 1843 - December 6, 1925) was an American Baptist minister, lawyer, writer, and outstanding orator. He is best remembered as the founder and first president of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and for his lecture and book Acres of Diamonds.
Acres of Diamonds originated as a speech which Conwell delivered over 6,000 times around the world; it was eventually published as delivered in Conwell’s home town, Philadelphia. The central idea of the work is that one need not look elsewhere for opportunity, achievement, or fortune — the resources to achieve all good things are present in your own community. This theme is developed by an introductory anecdote, told to Conwell by an Arab guide, about a man who wanted to find diamonds so badly that he sold his property and went off in futile search for them; the new owner of his home discovered that a rich diamond mine was located right there on the property. Conwell elaborates on the theme through examples of success, genius, service, or other virtues involving ordinary Americans contemporary to his audience: “dig in your own back-yard!”.
This book includes “His Life and Achievements”, the life and achievements of Russell Conwell by Robert Shackleton.
Divine Adjustment by Henry Thomas Hamblin. (1873-1958) Founder of The Science of Thought Review It was around the early1920’s that he began to write. The words seemed to flow from him. He found writing clarified his thoughts. One of his first books written in this new phase of his career was Within You Is The Power, which was to sell over 200,000 copies. Hamblin believed that there is a source of abundance within which, when contacted, could change a person’s entire life. As long as people blamed their circumstances they were stuck in the ‘victim role’, but if they moved in harmony with their inner source their life could be full of abundance and harmony.
Hamblin believed that disharmony and stress are a departure from the Divine Law. By making an inner adjustment, either consciously or from circumstances beyond our control, our life can be brought back into alignment with this Divine Law. Chapters include, Resisting Fear and Overcoming Doubt; The Creative Imagination and The Power of Words.
