Why the Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work - Part III

In Part I and II of this series, I explained that we had Limiting Beliefs about the  Law of Attraction and about ourselves and that we need to eliminate or change these beliefs.

The cause of any limitation or any lack in our world is a belief.  And our belief systems are more powerful than our thoughts.  Our thoughts come from the conscious part of our brain, of which we utilize about 10%.  However, our limiting beliefs reside in our subconscious mind.  Since our subconscious mind makes up about 90% of our total brain power, our unconscious beliefs override and supersede the conscious workings of our minds with ease.

In order for any change to occur in our lives, we must make a change in our beliefs.  We either have our minds working for us or against us.

In this case, we need to believe in the Law of Attraction and we need to believe that our ideal life is possible, or the Law of Attraction can never work for us.

So, how do we eliminate or change these limiting beliefs?

Volumes have been written and taught on the subject of eliminating limiting beliefs.  Listed below are some of the most popular techniques that produce great results for many people.

1. Affirmations
2. Meditation
3. Reframing
4. Byron Katie Method
5. The Sedona Method
6. EFT
7. Hypnosis

Affirmations

This self–directed practice is very effective in the manifestation process, but many of us need to combine this with other techniques when we just don’t believe in something.  This technique works best for those who already have a certain amount of belief in the and for those who are more in touch with their Spiritual self.  In other words, those that have asked themselves the questions such as “Why am I here?” or “What is my purpose on this earth?”  Those who believe in miracles and of course, those who believe in God or a higher intelligence.

There are many people who fully believe in the sayings “What goes around comes around” and “What you sow is what you reap.”  Both perfect examples of the , but these same people refuse to believe in the Laws of the Universe including the Law of Attraction.  The Universe works on the Law of Attraction!

The desired result when using affirmations is to condition your subconscious mind into knowing a certain thing is true.  A certain thing that you believe is not true.

This is where we must be careful and make sure we are using affirmations that we have a genuine desire to believe.  If you say an affirmation you don’t believe, saying it repeatedly will not make you believe it. Actually, this repetition can build up greater resistance to believing it.  We must be open to the possibility that we may be incorrect in our non-belief.  We must be open to the possibility that there may be much more to our life here on earth than we have been taught or exposed to.

One way to help us with affirmations, is to read stories and testimonies of other people who have experienced the changes we seek.  This helps to inspire us and motivate us to continue when our conscious mind says otherwise.

Whether you think you can or you think you can’t,,,you’re right - Henry Ford

Another way is proof.  Let’s face it, sometimes we need proof.  And not someone else’s proof but our own.

I have found an excellent way to prove to ourselves the power of affirmations:  For most of us, many times a day we hear the question, “How are you?” Either by friends, co-workers, bank tellers, cashiers, or strangers on the street.  The popular response given by the majority is a complaint.  Isn’t this true?  Don’t people like to tell of their misfortunes, aches and pains, and every little problem under the sun?  What do you say?

My standard responses are, “I am absolutely wonderful” or “I am blessed” or “I am fabulous, thank you.”  And I say this with a smile on my face because I know it is true.  I learned a long time ago the power of this small affirmation and have witnessed the same changes for many others.  You will begin to feel wonderful and blessed and fabulous.  Proof positive.  Not to mention how you may make the other person feel.

We can develop our beliefs and faith.  Our mental strength is developed the same way as our physical strength, by exercise.  It may be a little difficult at first, but gets easier each time.  We do it again and again and it becomes a mental habit.  Pretty soon it becomes automatic and we cannot think otherwise.  We are now positive of what we think.

Know that you can be what you will to be. There is no doubt about it….to be continued

Why the Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work - Part II

Part IILimiting Beliefs - This is the second installment in a series of articles on the Law of Attraction and how to make it work in your life. Read Part I Here.

Limiting beliefs are simply those beliefs we hold that prevent us from seeing all the possibilities.

Our beliefs are very powerful things. We live by what we believe and we fight for what we believe. When someone attempts to change our beliefs, we resist. To us, our beliefs are the facts. And we can’t change the facts, right?

Planet Earth

The fact is the world is flat!

Something heavier than air cannot fly!Jet Plane

Moon Walk

No man could ever walk on the moon!

All these statements have been proven false, but before they were proven true, they were seen as foolishness. Conventional wisdom dictated these things could never happen.

On a personal level, you may have some limiting beliefs concerning yourself. You may think you are not talented enough to accomplish a certain goal. You may think you don’t have the knowledge, the education, or the personality, or the money, or whatever it is to do what you want to do. You may have “I can’t because…” limiting beliefs about yourself.

The limiting beliefs you have of yourself represent an accumulation of experiences acquired throughout a lifetime. Since 95 per cent of all people lean toward the negative side, it is most likely that you have a negative impression of yourself.

Sometimes our beliefs are not true. We just think they are. And certainly you don’t have to believe in something for it to be true.

Are the not true for everyone simply because we don’t believe in them? The Secret

We probably all know people who have achieved extraordinary things in their life. Have you ever wondered why some people seem to sail through life effortlessly but most don’t? Or, why some people always seem to be confident, at ease, and fulfilled but most don’t? Or, why some people standout as charismatic achievers but most don’t? Are you one of these people? Do you suppose that maybe these people just have a different system of beliefs about themselves and the world around them?

Our system of beliefs (conscious and unconscious) is a learned system. We learned it, and we can just as easily unlearn it. We unlearn it by replacing it with a new system.

Science is now catching up with what great healers, visionaries, and spiritual leaders have been telling us for years. It is now proven that our life is a reflection of our focused thoughts. You are what you think.

It‘s necessary then to change our limiting negative beliefs to positive thoughts. Offering these new positive thoughts to our subconscious will create a new belief system instead of the belief system our parents and our environment have taught us.

We only see what we believe is possible. If we would just open our minds to the possibilities, we just might see them….to be continued

Why the Law of Attraction Doesn’t Work

Part I - This is the first installment in a series of articles on the Law of Attraction and how to make it work in your life.

The Law of Attraction and the power of positive thinking certainly are getting a lot of attention these days.  The release of  the book and movie “” has spawned hundreds of web sites, books, television shows, etc. Why do you suppose such a positive film about attracting positive things in your life, by focusing on the positive side of things, attracted so much negative controversy?the secret

The problem with the Law of Attraction is that most people don’t believe it.  We don’t believe in our own power.  We don’t believe in our own abilities.
We don’t believe that there is simply nothing we cannot be, do or have.  Most people scoff at that idea.

So the question is: Why don’t we believe in the Law of Attraction?

We have been programmed not to.  For the most part, we believe what our parents believe.  We believe what we have been taught.  We’ve been taught to be “realistic”, that some people are just lucky, what we should be afraid of, that we should learn discipline, try harder, work harder, study more….and on and on.

We have also been taught through our experiences.  Everything thing we have been taught, have done, and have experienced since childhood has combined to create all of our beliefs. The idea of repeating affirmations that you will become rich, and then sitting back and waiting for it to happen is just not “realistic.”

The bottom line is that we have limiting beliefs about the Law of Attraction.
Throughout your life, you have been taught all kinds of things. You were taught how to walk, how to talk, how to read, how to write, and how to tie your shoes.  But no one ever taught you how to use the Power of Your Mind and your Subconscious mind to really achieve your goals in life.  Before “The Secret” book and movie, who ever heard of such a thing?  I suppose not many.  After all, it was a “secret.”

The fact is, whether we believe it or not, the is constantly at work in our lives.  Working both to our benefit and to our detriment.  Most people are simply living their life on auto-pilot accepting what comes to them.  Most people live their entire lives without ever understanding anything about their .  And because of that, their lives may be unhappy, unfulfilled, mediocre and generally missing any real meaning.

The key to making the Law of Attraction work DELIBERATELY in your life is to eliminate or change the limiting beliefs.  It is simple.  But it’s not easy. It takes discipline and desire.

And NO, you can’t just repeat affirmations that you will become rich and sit back and wait for it to happen.  It doesn’t work that way….to be continued.
